Registration for fall sports high school tryouts opens on ParentVue at noon on Monday, July 13. Fall athletic teams may begin tryouts on Wednesday, Aug. 12. If students are registered for summer conditioning, they must still register for their fall sport to be eligible to participate. Contact your coach at your local school for specific information. Need more information? Contact your school’s athletic director for details about registration, eligibility requirements, tryouts and important dates.
Middle school sports registration will open on Monday, Aug. 10. NEW for the 2026-2027 school year, sixth graders will be eligible to participate in interscholastic athletics. Boys’ and girls’ slow-pitch softball and coed cross country are the middle school sports offered during the fall season.
High school students must have an annual physical exam before they can participate in MCPS athletics. Middle school students must have a medical evaluation every two years to participate. The Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation for Athletics form is here.Â
Montgomery County’s Mobile Health Clinic is offering free sports physicals this summer for all residents. The walk‑in clinics provide an opportunity for students to complete their required athletic physicals before the fall sports season. No appointments are needed; students are seen on a first come, first served basis. Students should bring a valid photo ID, proof of Montgomery County residency, their Pre‑Participation Physical Evaluation for Athletics form, and parent or legal guardian.
