Gaithersburg, MD – Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 32-year-old Beltsville man.
On Thursday, September 10, 2026, at approximately 2:05 p.m., the Emergency Communications Center received a call for a shooting in the 1700 block of January Drive. Third District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded and located the victim lying in the roadway with an apparent gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts, Rafael Jeremias Brewster was pronounced dead.

Major Crimes Division homicide detectives were notified and responded to the scene.
Brewster was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy determined the manner of death to be homicide.
This is an active and ongoing investigation and there is no suspect information available and no one in custody.
