Good Samaritan Helps Police Capture Stabbing Suspect

For Immediate Release: Monday, September 16, 2024

Gaithersburg, MD – 39-year-old Marcus Dwayne Jackson, of Washington, D.C., has been arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, following a stabbing that occurred on Monday, September 16, 2024, in the area of 2 Wisconsin Circle in Chevy Chase.

At approximately 9:21 a.m., officers from the Montgomery County Police Department, Metro Transit Police Department and the DC Metropolitan Police Department responded to the location for the report of a stabbing.

Upon arrival, officers located a 66-year-old female victim with apparent stab wounds to her body. The victim was provided with life-saving measures at the scene and transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

The investigation has revealed that the victim was sitting on a bench near the location when Jackson stabbed her in the upper body and left the scene running towards Washington, D.C.

A good Samaritan who observed the stabbing immediately called 9-1-1, reported the crime and followed Jackson to the area of Connecticut and Western Avenues, where officers from the DC Metropolitan Police Department took Jackson into custody.

Montgomery County Police detectives have obtained an arrest warrant against Jackson, charging him with second-degree murder, first-degree assault, possession of a dangerous weapon with the intent to injure, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

Jackson has been transported to a detention center in Washington, D.C., where he is awaiting extradition to Montgomery County, MD.
