Montgomery County Council to Hold Public Hearings on Sept. 24 and Oct. 1, 2024

For Immediate Release: Friday, September 13, 2024

The County Council will hold public hearings to receive testimony on new items introduced to the Council as follows:

Sept. 24, 2024 at 1:30 p.m.
Deadline to sign up to speak is Sept. 23 at 2 p.m.

  • Resolution to approve Disposition of County Public Parking Lots 25 and 44 Located in Bethesda, Maryland

Oct. 1, 2024 at 1:30 p.m.
Deadline to sign up to speak is Sept. 30 at 2 p.m.

  • Bill 17-24, Administration – Department of Technology and Enterprise Business Solutions – Non-merit Positions , would repurpose the non-merit position of Chief Data Officer in the Department of Technology and Enterprise Business Solutions (TEBS) by abolishing it, establish the non-merit position of Chief Operating Officer in TEBS, and generally amend the law governing non-merit positions.
  • Bill 15-24, Taxation – Public Safety Officers – Bi-County Agency Police , would establish a tax credit against real property tax for public safety officers in bi-county agencies, and generally amend the law governing property tax credits.
  • Bill 16-24, Development Impact Tax – Amendments , would update transportation impact tax districts, modify the applicability of development impact tax exemptions for certain uses and in certain locations, and generally amend the law governing transportation and school development impact taxes.

To testify in-person or remotely during a live public hearing at the Council Office Building, residents need to preregister on the Council’s web page . Residents may also choose to provide pre-recorded testimony in written, audio or video formats or submit testimony by mail.

Send testimony by mail to County Council, 100 Maryland Ave., Rockville, MD 20850; or residents may sign up to testify remotely by phone (call 240-777-7803 for information). To express an opinion call 240-777-7900.

Public hearings will be televised live by County Cable Montgomery (CCM) on Xfinity channels 6 and 996, RCN channels 6 and 1056; and FiOS channel 30. Also available live via streaming through the Council website , Facebook Live ( @MontgomeryCountyMdCouncil or @ConcejodelCondadodeMontgomery ), or YouTube ( @MoCoCouncilMD ).
