ROCKVILLE, Md., June 15, 2026—The Montgomery County Council will commemorate Pride Month on Tuesday, June 16 at 11:30 a.m. Montgomery County proudly supports our LGBTQIA+ communities and conducts community engagement events throughout the year that are expanded during Pride Month.
“Pride Month is a time when we honor the LGBTQIA+ community and the generations of advocates who expanded rights and opportunities for others across the country, including here at home in Montgomery County,” said Council President Natali Fani-González. “It is a reminder that our communities are strongest when everyone feels empowered to live openly and honestly, staying true to themselves. I’m proud that this County continues to be a place where people are valued for who they are and can live authentically.”
“At a time when our neighbors are under attack for who they love, how they identify and where they pray, we need to stand together as a community and fight for our values,” said Councilmember Evan Glass. “I will always defend every person’s right to live openly, safely and authentically. Everyone is welcomed, valued and respected in Montgomery County for exactly who they are. That is why this Pride is so important.”
This year’s theme is “Exist. Resist. Have the Audacity.” The commemoration will include a video documenting Pride leaders making a difference in our communities. The interviewed guests include Karen Holmes, Owner & CEO at SafetyFirst DMV and Transgender Advocate, Reverend Tim Carr, Rector at Christ Episcopal Church in Rockville, and Yael Astor, Equity Specialist at Montgomery County Public Schools.
The Council commemoration will be streaming live on the Council’s Facebook page, YouTube channel and Council website. Residents also will be able to watch live on television on Comcast/RCN channels 996/1056 Verizon channel 30.
