On Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold a virtual (online) public hearing to discuss the proposed Bowie Mill Road Bikeway. The public will have an opportunity to provide testimony and ask questions.
Please register online to attend the hearing. After registration, the Zoom platform will send attendees an email with the Zoom link and passcode required to attend the virtual hearing.

The Bowie Mill Road Bikeway Project proposes to construct a shared-use path/bikeway along Bowie Mill Road from Muncaster Mill Road (MD 115) to Olney-Laytonsville Road (MD 108). The project also provides a new pedestrian bridge over the Rock Creek North Branch to continue the side path along Bowie Mill Road. This 3.3-mile-long bikeway will provide a connection between existing trails and the Intercounty Connector Bike Path, Needwood Road Bike Path, Shady Grove Metrorail Station, Sequoyah Elementary School, Colonel Zadok Magruder High School, and Olney Town Center.
At the public meeting, MCDOT will present the project design, details, costs, and schedule. MCDOT will also obtain public testimony on the design and answer questions. Public input is encouraged and may influence the final design of the project.
The public is encouraged to visit the project website and provide feedback via the online written testimony form or by email to the Project Manager, Jean Kapusnick, at Jean.Kapusnick@montgomerycountymd.gov. Written testimony carries the same weight as oral testimony. All information provided will become a matter of public record.
