Gaithersburg, MD — Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that claimed the life of a Silver Spring man.
On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at approximately 9:39 p.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for the report of a collision involving a vehicle and a bicycle.
The investigation has revealed that the driver of a white Lexus ES was traveling northbound on the ramp from Columbia Pike toward New Hampshire Ave. when it struck a bicyclist.
The driver of the Lexus left the scene following the collision and returned a short time later.
The adult male bicyclist was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
On the morning of Wednesday, June 17, the bicyclist died because of the injuries sustained in the collision. The decedent has been identified as 45-year-old Minh Q. Vu.
This is an active and ongoing investigation.
