The following is a summary of a multiple-vehicle collision that occurred in the area of Columbia Pike and Fairland Road.
 
On Saturday, July 18, 2026, at approximately 1:43 p.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded to the location for the report of a collision involving multiple vehicles.
 
The preliminary investigation indicates that a white 2018 Hino moving truck was traveling northbound on Columbia Pike, just prior to Fairland Road, when it struck ten vehicles that were stopped in traffic.
 
A total of ten individuals, including three pediatric patients, were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.   
 
The adult male driver of the moving truck remained on the scene and did not display signs of alcohol or drug impairment.
 
The moving truck and eight additional vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene.
 
The driver of the moving truck was issued the following traffic citations:
 
  1. Negligent driving vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner endangering life, property and person
  2. Failure to control vehicle speed on highway to avoid collision
  3. Driving vehicle in excess of reasonable and prudent speed on highway
  4. Driver of motor vehicle following vehicle closer than reasonable and prudent speed on highway

    Drivers have no respect for other drivers on the road or pedestrians! It was always a problem now it’s getting worse, tailgating, speeding up on you as if it’s a joke. Very nervous to be a driver out here now! I wish all involved get well and my
