Gaithersburg, MD – Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District responded to a shooting that occurred at approximately 10:33 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the Damascus Gardens apartment complex in the 9800 block of Bethesda Church Rd. in Damascus.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and another individual were leaving an apartment building when an unknown suspect fired one shot. The suspect left the area before officers arrived and has not been identified.
The victim, an adult male, was struck in the leg and transported to a local hospital.
The suspect was described as a male dressed in all black, including a black short-sleeved shirt, black pants, and black slide sandals worn with white socks. He had a bag or other covering over his head.
Detectives are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information to come forward.
