The following is a brief summary of events regarding a fatal hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian that occurred on Muddy Branch Road near West Diamond Avenue.
At approximately 4:47 a.m., Gaithersburg City Police officers initially responded to the area for the report of a person lying in the roadway. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from traumatic injuries. The adult male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe a silver or gray 2010 or 2011 Honda CR-V may have been involved in the collision. The vehicle is believed to have damage to the front left bumper and undercarriage.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating this fatal collision.
A news release will be issued when more information becomes available, including the name of the decedent, following proper notification of next of kin.
