Posted on May 21, 2026

County residents excited to hit the pool outside as the weather heats up will not have to wait much longer as Montgomery County Recreation’s outdoor pool pre-season will begin on Saturday, May 23, at noon.

During the pre-season, which takes place May 23 to June 19, the County’s seven outdoor pools will operate:

  • Only on weekends from noon – 6 p.m.
  • From 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 3 – 6 p.m. on Monday, May 25 (Memorial Day)

“Every summer, our outdoor pools become gathering places for families, kids and neighbors across Montgomery County,” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. “Our County pools are important community spaces where children can build confidence in the water and learn critical water safety skills. They also provide people with a safe, affordable place to stay active, cool off and spend time together during the hottest months of the year. I appreciate the Recreation staff, lifeguards and employees who help operate these facilities. I encourage residents to take advantage of everything our outdoor pools, as well as all of the other activities our Recreation department offers throughout the summer.”

The outdoor pools will transition to the summer season schedule beginning June 20 through Aug. 14. Outdoor pools will operate:

  • 1 – 8 p.m. on weekdays
  • Noon – 8 p.m. on weekends

“Our outdoor pools are an important part of what makes summer in Montgomery County special,” said Montgomery County Recreation Director Gabe Albornoz. “I am incredibly proud of our aquatics team, who work hard to provide safe, welcoming spaces where residents of all ages can stay active, connect with neighbors, and enjoy quality time with family and friends. We hope to see you out enjoying all that Montgomery County Recreation has to offer this summer.”
