Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Saturday, May 16, 2026. The collision resulted in the death of 25-year-old Roger Gustavo Pineda Cardona of Gaithersburg.
At approximately 9:43 p.m., 6th District officers, Gaithersburg City Police, and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to West Diamond Avenue at the ramp to southbound I-270 for the report of a collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle.
The investigation has revealed that a green 2008 Kawasaki EX250 motorcycle was traveling eastbound on West Diamond Avenue, approaching the I-270 overpass, when it collided with the rear of a black 2022 Toyota Camry. The Toyota was making a left turn from westbound West Diamond Avenue onto southbound I-270.
Upon arrival, responders located Pineda Cardona suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Toyota and two passengers remained on scene and were uninjured.
