This is the MCPD daily crime summary for May 18, 2026. Notably, there were multiple incidents of theft from vehicles, including several catalytic converters stolen across different locations.
Incidents
- Theft from Auto (Catalytic Converter) – 600 block Lofstrand Ln – A catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle.
- Theft from Auto (Tires and Rims) – 8000 block Georgia Ave – Tires and rims were stolen from a vehicle.
- Auto Theft – 900 block Gist Ave – An auto mechanic allegedly stole the customer’s car after taking it in for repair.
- Theft from Auto (Recovered / Arrest) – 3800 block Greenly St – A vehicle was stolen from in front of a home. The vehicle was spotted nearby and officers responded, with the suspects crashing. The driver was arrested and the passenger ran off.
- Aggravated Assault (Firearm) – 2300 block McMahon Rd – A property owner found a suspect inside of a residence. As the owner left in his vehicle, the suspect shot at the vehicle. The suspect ran off. The property owner was taken to the hospital for cuts from broken glass but was not shot.
- Theft from Auto (Catalytic Converter) – 20400 block Seneca Meadows Pkwy – A catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle.
- Theft from Auto – Waring Station Rd / Churubusco Ln – A vehicle window was broken and personal property was stolen.
- Residential Burglary (Arrest) – 11200 block Skip Jack Rd – A suspect tried to force entry into a home and then a vehicle but was unsuccessful. One person was arrested.
- Residential Burglary – 9800 block Mahogany Dr – A woman found a suspect hiding in her home. The suspect left the apartment and the woman was not physically injured.
