Gaithersburg, MD — The Montgomery County Department of Police Threat Assessment and Behavioral Solutions Unit has charged a Florida teen in connection with multiple swatting incidents targeting a Germantown residence.
On November 22, 2025, 5th District officers responded to an address on Severndale Terrace for the report of a shooting. Officers were dispatched for what was initially reported as an active shooter outside the home. When officers arrived and spoke with the homeowner, she had no knowledge of a shooting, and there was no evidence of any incident in the area.
On January 23, 2026, the Emergency Communications Center received another swatting call for the same address. The caller reported an active shooter and hostages inside the home. The family also reported receiving repeated, unwanted food deliveries.
Through the investigation, detectives traced the calls to a phone number and IP address in Orlando, FL, and identified the teen suspect.
The teen, a 17-year-old male, was charged on April 28 with two counts of knowingly making false reports of crimes or emergencies to authorities with reckless disregard for causing bodily harm, and two counts of making a false statement to a law enforcement officer.
The case has been referred to the Department of Juvenile Services for disposition.
