Detectives Investigate Woodfield Road Fatal Collision; Victim’s Identity Released

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Sunday, March 15, 2026. The collision resulted in the death of 39-year-old Jorge Estuardo Moran Hernandez of Clarksburg.
At approximately 1:27 a.m., 5th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Woodfield Road and Glendalough Road for the report of a two-vehicle collision.
The investigation has revealed that a black 2012 Ford F150 pickup truck was traveling northbound on Woodfield Road, when for reasons still under investigation, the driver, Moran Hernandez, struck a black 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling in the southbound lane. Following the collision, the Ford crashed into an embankment, rolled, and collided with a guardrail. Moran Hernandez was partially ejected from the truck and pronounced dead on scene.
The adult female driver of the Jeep was transported to an area hospital in critical but stable condition.
