Owings Mills Woman Killed in Single-Vehicle Collision

Gaithersburg, MD – The Montgomery County Department of Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision that occurred on Monday, March 17, 2025, at approximately 10:54 p.m.
4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue responded to the area of eastbound Ashton Road (MD 108) at the intersection with New Hampshire Avenue (MD 650) for the report of a collision. Upon arrival, first responders located 51-year-old Melissa Thomas of Owings Mills, MD, the only occupant of the vehicle, in cardiac arrest. Despite lifesaving efforts, Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial investigation revealed that Thomas was driving a 2024 white Honda Accord eastbound on MD 108. While crossing through the intersection with MD 650, she lost control of the vehicle, struck a curb, left the roadway, and collided with a tree. A witness remained on the scene and provided information to CRU investigators.
