Four Individuals Arrested in Connection with Theft and Robbery

Gaithersburg, MD – Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police- 3rd District Station have arrested and charged two adults males with a theft at H & M, and in a separate incident, two adult females with a strong-armed robbery on Colesville Road in Silver Spring.
On Monday, March 10, 2025, at approximately 8:15 p.m., 3rd District officers and plainclothes officers were working a criminal enforcement detail in downtown Silver Spring. During the detail, officers responded to H & M in the 8500 block of Fenton Street for the report of a theft.
The investigation has revealed that the two male suspects entered the store, stole clothes and left the scene. Plainclothes officers quickly spotted the suspects. After a lengthy foot pursuit, officers apprehended the suspects.
Nearly 40 minutes later, at approximately 8:57 p.m., officers assigned to the Central Business District (CBD) team were proactively patrolling in the 8600 block of Colesville Road when they were flagged down by a male victim who stated that he had just been approached by two female suspects who tried to steal money from him and then assaulted him.
The CBD officers quickly apprehended the two women, who resisted arrest. The suspects were identified as 28-year-old Dana Brown of Derwood and 31-year-old Shyniqua Mooney of Silver Spring.
All four were transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where two of them were charged with theft, resisting arrest and related charges; they are being held on a $100 bond. Brown and Mooney were charged with robbery and resisting arrest and are being held without bond.
