Montgomery County Council to Hold Public Hearings on Dec. 3, 2024 and Jan. 14, 2025

The County Council will hold public hearings to receive testimony on new items introduced to the Council as follows:

Dec. 3, 2024 at 1:30 p.m.
Deadline to sign up to speak is Dec. 2 at 2 p.m.

  • Resolution to approve Supplemental Appropriation #25-28 to the FY25 Operating Budget, Montgomery County Government, Non-Departmental Account Working Families Income Supplement, $746,521 (Source of Funds: Federal Grant)
  • Resolution to approve Supplemental Appropriation #25-27 to the FY25 Operating Budget, Montgomery County Government, Department of Police, Federal FY24 Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Invited to Apply-Discretionary Grants Program, Crime Laboratory Information Management System Award, $963,000 (Source of Funds: Federal Grant)
  • Resolution to approve Supplemental Appropriation #25-26 to the FY25 Operating Budget, Montgomery County Government, Department of Police, Bureau of Justice Assistance Grant Programs (BJA) Federal FY24 Byrne Discretionary Grants Program, Crisis Co-Response Team Award, $700,000 (Source of Funds: Federal Grant)
  • Resolution to approve Supplemental Appropriation #25-15 to the FY25 Operating Budget, Montgomery County Government, Department of Health and Human Services, Behavioral Health and Crisis Services Competitive Victims of Crime Act (VOCA/VOCG) (VOCA) Grant, $387,925 (Source of Funds: State Grant)

  • Resolution to approve Supplemental Appropriation #25-29 to the FY25 Operating Budget, Montgomery County Government, Department of Technology and Enterprise Business Solutions, Copilot 365 Pilot Program, $308,000 (Source of Funds: General Funds: Undesignated Reserves)
  • Expedited Bill 26-24, Police – U visa Law Enforcement Certification Policy (The “U V.I.S.A” Act) , would require any policy directive regarding U visa certification by a law enforcement officer to be consistent and no more restrictive than allowed under federal immigration law, and generally amend the County law regarding policy directives or guidance related to federal immigration law.

To testify in-person or remotely during a live public hearing at the Council Office Building, residents need to preregister on the Council’s web page . Residents may also choose to provide pre-recorded testimony in written, audio or video formats or submit testimony by mail.

Public hearings will be televised live by County Cable Montgomery (CCM) on Xfinity channels 6 and 996, RCN channels 6 and 1056; and FiOS channel 30. Also available live via streaming through the Council website , Facebook Live ( @MontgomeryCountyMdCouncil or @ConcejodelCondadodeMontgomery ), or YouTube ( @MoCoCouncilMD ).
