The County Council will hold public hearings to receive testimony on new items introduced to the Council as follows:
June 9, 2026 at 1:30 p.m.
Deadline to sign up to speak is June 8 at 2 p.m.
- Bill 20-26, Fire and Rescue Services – Length of Service Awards Program for Volunteers – Amendments, would expand eligibility for length of service benefits to certain local fire and rescue department volunteers; increase the amount of the length of service benefits to certain local fire and rescue department volunteers; and generally amend the law regarding local fire and rescue department volunteers.
- Bill 21-26, Employee Retirement System – Savings and Benefits – Amendments, would add correctional health nurses to retirement Group E, effective June 30, 2029; remove retirement Groups E and J age requirement for normal retirement when 25 years of service are met; increase employee and employer contributions for employees that participate in the Guaranteed Income Retirement Plan (GRIP); increase employee and employer contributions for Group I members participating in the Retirement Savings Plan (RSP); reopen GRIP enrollment for specified members of the OPT and SLT bargaining unit for a limited time; provide post-retirement Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) to GRIP; provide a one-time limited irrevocable opportunity to purchase credited service years for specified Emergency Communications Center (ECC) employees in Groups E and J; and generally amend the employee retirement system and benefits.
- Bill 22-26, Finance – Economic Development Fund – Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer Matching Grant Program – Repeal of Sunset Date, would repeal the sunset date affecting the Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer Matching Grant Program; and generally amend the law regarding the Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer Matching Grant Program.

- Expedited Bill 19-26, Buildings – Moratorium on Permits for Data Centers – Established, would establish a temporary moratorium on permits for a data center issued by the Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement; and generally amend the laws governing buildings and permitting in the County.

To testify in-person or remotely during a live public hearing at the Council Office Building, residents need to preregister on the Council’s web page. Residents may also choose to provide pre-recorded testimony in written, audio or video formats or submit testimony by mail.
