The Montgomery County Department of Police is aware of a video circulating on social media showing officers attempting to take an adult male into custody. Below is a summary of the events related to that incident.
On Monday, June 1, 2026, at approximately 10:31 a.m., 5th District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services personnel responded to the 21900 block of Frederick Road in Boyds for reports of an adult male in crisis.
A crisis response officer responded to the scene and determined the individual was in crisis and needed to be transported to a hospital for evaluation. Officers spoke with the individual and assured him that he was not in trouble. When officers attempted to take him into protective custody so he could be taken to the hospital, he actively resisted.
Officers attempted to place the individual on a stretcher and into an ambulance. As officers escorted him toward the ambulance, he broke free and moved toward the roadway. The individual was not wearing a belt, and as he broke free, his pants fell down. Officers moved in front of him to prevent him from entering traffic and continued giving verbal instructions. The individual continued to resist officers’ efforts to place him in handcuffs.
As the struggle continued, an officer deployed a Taser. The individual continued to resist, and officers guided him to the ground. Officers were eventually able to place him in handcuffs and secure him on a stretcher.
He was then transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
