Presidents Day holiday 2026

The Montgomery County Government and programs that impact County residents will have holiday schedules and program changes for Presidents Day on Monday, Feb. 16. 

Schedule changes for the holiday celebrating Presidents Day on Monday, Feb. 16: 

  • County offices—Closed. 
  • MC 311— Closed. 
  • State offices and courts—Closed. 
  • State Motor Vehicle Administration offices and Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program stations—Closed. 
  • Libraries— Closed Sunday, Feb.15 and Monday, Feb.16. 
  • Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS)—All stores open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. 
  • Department of Permitting Services—Closed. 
  • Ride On, extRa 101, extRa Lime, extRa Pink, and Flex bus services – will operate on a Holiday schedule.   
  • Ride On US 29 Flash bus service - Orange line will operate on a Holiday schedule. The Blue line (typically during weekday rush hours only) will not be in service.   
  • MARC Train—Will operate on “R” schedule on all three lines. Penn Line Trains 455 (8:45 p.m. departure from Penn Station) and 454 (10:05 p.m. departure from Washington) will operate. Brunswick Line passengers should note that the “R” schedule consists of morning Trains 873, 892, 878, and 880 and afternoon Trains 875, 877, 893, and 881. Frederick Transit will not operate on Feb. 16, so there will be no connecting bus service from Point of Rocks to Monocacy and Frederick. 
  • TRiPS Silver Spring commuter store—Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
  • TRiPS mobile commuter store—Closed. 
  • Metrorail—Will operate on a weekday schedule with trains running from 5 a.m. to midnight. 
  • Metrobus—Will operate with a Saturday, Sunday, or Holiday schedule, depending on the specific route. Commuters should check wmata.com for details.  
  • Public parking garages, lots, and curbside meters—Free. 
  • County-provided trash and recycling collections—There will be no collections on Monday, Feb. 16. Collections for the remainder of the week will slide one day, with the final collections on Saturday, Feb. 21. 
  • Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling Center— Entire facility is closed. 
  • Aquatic Centers—Open. 
  • Recreation Administrative Office, Recreation Centers, and Senior Centers—Closed.
