Posted on September 19, 2025

For Immediate Release: Friday, September 19, 2025

Montgomery County’s Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) will open its newest Oak Barrel & Vine store in Wheaton at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25.

The celebration and ribbon cutting will be held inside the store’s mall entrance, located near Costco at the Westfield Wheaton mall. The Westfield Wheaton mall is located at 11160 Viers Mill Road in Wheaton.

Elected officials and alcohol industry representatives are expected to attend the opening.

“Openings of Oak Barrel & Vine stores across our County have been well received, and the residents of Wheaton are going to be equally pleased with the selection, value, and service at this new location,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “Montgomery County’s Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) generates over $35 million in net profits annually to fund County services. By reinvesting in our communities through stores like this, we are supporting local products and ensuring that ABS continues to provide real value for Montgomery County residents.”

For the grand opening, seven rare and highly allocated items will be available exclusively at the Wheaton location:

  • Willett Family Estate 12YR Part-Time Maison Rye

The Oak Barrel & Vine branded stores showcase handpicked items, emphasizing spirits and locally made products. The new Wheaton location replaces the former store at 11405 Georgia Ave. and will be the sixth store to carry the Oak Barrel & Vine name.

This store introduces several new features for customers, including:

  • A spacious tasting room and event space.
  • An expanded selection of small-format items.
  • A dedicated section for non-alcoholic products.
  • Queue lines for faster checkout.
  • Clear way-finding signs and improved accessibility.

The Wheaton store will be open 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon-5 p.m. on Sundays. For a full list of ABS store locations and hours, visit the ABS website.
