Montgomery County Council to Hold Public Hearings on Oct. 29 and Nov. 12, 2024

The County Council will hold public hearings to receive testimony on new items introduced to the Council as follows:
Oct. 29, 2024 at 1:30 p.m.
Deadline to sign up to speak is Oct. 28 at 2 p.m.
- Declaration of No Further Need – Long-Term Lease of a portion of 9701 Main Street , located in Damascus, Maryland, to Damascus Heritage Society Museum
- Resolution to approve Supplemental Appropriation #25-25 to the FY25 Operating Budget Montgomery County Public Schools National Fish and Wildlife Foundation Grant, $500,000 (Source of Funds: Federal Grant)
- Resolution to approve Supplemental Appropriation #25-24 to the FY25 Operating Budget Montgomery County Public Schools Improving Adolescent Health and Well-Being Grant, $367,500 (Source of Funds: Federal Grant)

Deadline to sign up to speak is Nov. 11 at 2 p.m.
- Amendments to the Comprehensive Water Supply and Sewerage Systems Plan: Water and Sewer Category Change Requests
- Bill 21-24, General Provisions – Naming of County Facilities , would establish a process for the naming of County-owned facilities, and generally amend the law regarding County facilities.
- Expedited Bill 23-24, Contracts and Procurement – Minority Owned Business Purchasing Program – Extension of Sunset Date , would extend the sunset date for the County’s minority owned business purchasing program, require an evaluation and report regarding the need to extend the program, and generally amend the law regarding procurement.

To testify in-person or remotely during a live public hearing at the Council Office Building, residents need to preregister on the Council’s web page . Residents may also choose to provide pre-recorded testimony in written, audio or video formats or submit testimony by mail.
