Third District Officers Arrest Virginia Men Following Silver Spring Shooting

For Immediate Release: Friday, January 19, 2024

Gaithersburg, MD – Four Virginia men have been arrested following a shooting in downtown Silver Spring.

On Thursday, January 18, 2024, at approximately 10:29 p.m., 3rd District officers proactively patrolling the area of Spring Street and 2nd Avenue, observed suspicious activity between a group of men.

The 3rd District officers radioed information to nearby officers.

The occupants inside of a blue Honda Accord with Virginia tags, began arguing with an adult male standing outside of the Honda. A passenger inside of the Honda got out of the car holding a handgun. The male outside of the car also drew a gun, and the two began shooting at each other. The passenger got back inside of the car and the driver of the Honda turned down N. Falkland Lane, a dead-end street.

The driver of the Honda and another passenger were taken into custody right away. Inside of the Honda, a loaded Glock 19 with an extended magazine and a loaded AK-47 style pistol were recovered.

The shooter standing outside of the Honda was also arrested and a 9mm privately manufactured firearm used in the shooting was found in his possession.

With the assistance of Prince George’s County helicopter, the second shooter was witnessed running across Georgia Avenue and he was subsequently arrested behind the Fillmore Theater.

The suspects arrested are as follows:
