Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and the Montgomery County Department of General Services (DGS) will host the community at a groundbreaking ceremony for a new child care facility at Martin Luther King Jr. Recreational Park, located at 1102 Jackson Rd. in the Colesville neighborhood of Silver Spring.
The new child care building will replace the Horizon Child Care center at MLK Jr. Recreational Park and will be located just east of the existing facility. It will feature an adjacent playground and access from Jackson Road to the south. The current Horizon Child Care facility is an aging modular structure that was deemed to be in poor physical condition during a survey conducted in 2020.

DGS will oversee construction, with the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning, Montgomery Parks division serving as partners on the project. The conceptual plan was done in collaboration with a design team in association with DHHS and DGS.
