Virtual Public Workshop on the Purple Line BiPPA Sidewalk Proposals for the Long Branch and Manchester Place Stations Project in Silver Spring to be Held on Tuesday, April 14 – Mocofeed

Posted on April 9, 2026

For Immediate Release: Thursday, April 9, 2026

On Tuesday, April 14, at 6:30 p.m., the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold a virtual public workshop (online only) to discuss the proposed Purple Line Bicycle and Pedestrian Priority Area (BiPPA) Sidewalk Proposals for the Long Branch and Manchester Place Stations project in Silver Spring. The public will have an opportunity to provide comments and ask questions.

Please register online to attend the meeting. After registering, the Zoom platform will send attendees an email containing the Zoom link and passcode needed to attend the virtual hearing.

The Purple Line BiPPA Sidewalk Proposals for the Long Branch and Manchester Place Stations project proposes the installation of 5-foot-wide concrete sidewalks on roadways within a half-mile radius of each new Purple Line station. In addition to new sidewalks, MCDOT will also add crosswalks, curb ramps, and other pedestrian amenities to make it safer and easier for residents to navigate the area around the new Purple Line stations.

As supported by the County’s Climate Action Plan, the sidewalk connectivity enhancements by MCDOT near the new Purple Line stations are a positive step towards creating a more pedestrian-friendly environment in Montgomery County. These improvements not only improve access to public transportation but also promote walkability and sustainability in the community.
