Virtual Public Information Meeting on the Burnt Hill Road Bridge Over Little Bennett Creek Replacement Project in Clarksburg to be Held on Monday, Jan. 29
For Immediate Release: Friday, January 5, 2024
On Monday, Jan. 29, starting at 7 p.m., the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold a virtual public information meeting to discuss the latest plans for the Burnt Hill Road Bridge (No. M-0157) over Little Bennett Creek Replacement Project in Clarksburg. The public will have an opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions.
This project provides for the replacement of the existing bridge on Burnt Hill Road over Little Bennett Creek. The existing bridge, built in 1955, is a 19’ – 0” long single span structure with reinforced concrete T-beams supporting a reinforced concrete slab. The structure has a clear roadway width of 18’ – 1” for two-way traffic with steel W-beam barriers on both sides. The structure is supported by concrete abutments. The 2020 annual bridge inspection revealed that the structure is in poor condition, considered structurally deficient and needs replacement. Burnt Hill Road at this location is designated as a Rustic Road.
At the virtual public information meeting, MCDOT will present the 35% design, project details, costs, schedules and obtain public comments and answer questions. The completed project will enhance safety for motorists and bicyclists as they travel to nearby schools and facilities. Public input is encouraged and may influence future designs.
Online registration is required to attend. Upon registration, a Zoom link with passcode will be provided via email.
The public is encouraged to provide their comments via the online comment form or via email to the Project Manager, Holger Serrano at . All information provided, including questions and comments, will become a matter of public record.
Interpreter services will be provided upon request with five business days advance notice by contacting Lori Main by email at or call 240-777-7271.
