Local Update from Social Media
An Upcounty resident is raising concerns about what they see as unresponsiveness from Montgomery County leaders regarding development without adequate infrastructure.
In a social media post on August 14, the resident said they reached out to their district County Councilmember and all at-large members about “the explosion of housing in the Damascus area without infrastructure improvements and school expansion.” While their district councilmember replied, they said every at-large member ignored the emails—though they did receive automated additions to campaign mailing lists.
The resident criticized the County for approving projects they believe are not in line with its own Master Plan, warning that continued growth without matching investments in roads, schools, and other infrastructure will strain the community.
Another commenter shared a similar experience, suggesting it may be time to file an ethics complaint, arguing that elected officials have a duty to respond to constituents.

“In true @MontgomeryCoMD fashion, I reached out to my cc member and the at large candidates who I was assured would give me extra representation on the CC. My CC member responded, the at large candidates ALL ignored the emails, but rest assured they put me on their mailing lists.”
