Thirty years ago, a group of Latino students at Albert Einstein High School came together to celebrate their culture through dance. What started as Latin American Students United has grown into the school’s Titanes Salseros dance team—a symbol of identity, inclusion and tradition.
On Sept. 26, the team will mark its 30th anniversary with a special event at the school, featuring a visual exhibit highlighting the team’s journey over three decades, live dance performances, family games and raffles. The celebration is part of Hispanic Heritage Month.
“We want the community to see where we started and how far we’ve come,” said Paula Peró, who has led the team since 2000. “This is a chance to come together, celebrate and honor everything we’ve built.”
One of the highlights of the event will be a special routine featuring more than 20 alumni dancing alongside current members, a tribute to the music and memories that have shaped the group’s legacy.
Unlike competitive dance teams, the Titanes focus on inclusion, commitment and academic growth. “We welcome anyone who’s willing to learn and put in the effort,” Peró said. “It’s not just about dance. It’s about growing as students and as people.”
