Gaithersburg, MD – Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District Patrol officers have arrested and charged 21-year-old Lawrence Xavier Harrison, of Gaithersburg, and two juvenile males with auto theft related charges, following a traffic stop that occurred on Thursday, June 29, 2023.
At approximately 1:11 a.m., officers were patrolling the area of Frederick Rd. and Rosecrest Dr. when they observed a white Hyundai traveling northbound on Frederick Rd. with its headlights off and at a high rate of speed.
Officers followed the Hyundai, and determined that the Hyundai had been reported stolen. Officers observed the Hyundai make a U-Turn and fail to stop at a red traffic light. The Hyundai then got on northbound I-270 Highway. Officers activated their lights and sirens and attempted to pull over the Hyundai on I-270, but the driver of the Hyundai failed to stop and continued traveling a high rate of speed, committing several traffic infractions.
The Hyundai stopped in the 8800 block of Dr. Perry Rd., where the juvenile driver, rear juvenile passenger and front seat passenger, later identified as Lawrence Xavier Harrison, were taken into custody.
A search of the vehicle revealed items of evidentiary value.
The two juveniles were transported to the Montgomery County Police 5th District Station, where they were charged with auto theft related charges and then released to their parents.

Officers determined that Harrison also had an active arrest warrant out of Virginia and through Maryland State Police. Harrison was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was charged with Unauthorized Removal of Motor Vehicle, Unlawful Taking of Motor Vehicle, Theft $1,500-$25,000 and Rogue and Vagabond. He was released on a $3,000 unsecured personal bond.
