Gaithersburg, MD – 32-year-old Damon Junior Cruz, of Gaithersburg, has been arrested and charged with sexual abuse of a minor and displaying obscene material to a minor. Detectives have released a photo of Cruz and are urging anyone who may be a victim of sexual assault by Cruz to come forward.
On Tuesday, April 30, 2024, the Montgomery County Child Welfare Services and the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) began investigating Cruz following the report of a sexual abuse on a minor.

The alleged assaults occurred between November 2021 and February 2024, when Cruz was the victim’s hitting/pitching coach.
Detectives are concerned there may be additional victims of sexual assault by Cruz that have not contacted police.
Cruz was arrested on Thursday, May 9, 2024, and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was released on bond.
