Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Monday, June 8, 2026. The collision resulted in the death of 39-year-old Irrael Lopez Garcia, of an unknown address.
At approximately 2:09 a.m., 4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Veirs Mill Road and Gail Street for the report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The investigation has revealed that Lopez Garcia was in the roadway, when he was struck by a silver 2009 Honda Civic that was traveling east on Veirs Mill Road. Lopez Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Honda remained on scene.
