Suspect Arrested in Silver Spring Homicide

Gaithersburg, MD – The Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division has identified and charged a suspect in connection with a Silver Spring homicide.
On Sunday, October 12, 2025, Montgomery County Police 3rd District officers responded to the 1700 block of Imperial Drive for a call for shots fired in the area.
Upon arrival, officers located 47-year-old Monique Charles of Brooklyn, New York, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead on scene.
Monique Charles was leaving the location on Imperial Drive when her ex-boyfriend approached and shot her multiple times. A witness saw the shooting and identified the suspect as, 47-year-old Earl Walker. The witness provided a description of the car Walker was driving when he left the scene.

Officers responded to the area of Walker’s residence in Derwood and observed Walker driving away in his car. Officers attempted to stop Walker, however, he kept going. After a pursuit, Walker crashed and rolled his car in the area of Route 108 and Rocky Road.  Walker was taken into custody and transported to an area hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries. A gun was found in Walker’s car after the crash.
An arrest warrant for Walker was obtained charging him with first-degree murder and other related charges.
