Suspect Arrested and Victim Identified in Homicide Investigation

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have identified an adult female victim and an adult male suspect connected to a homicide investigation that is now being investigated by the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD).
On Sunday, April 27, 2025, at approximately 7:20 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring for the report of a female gunshot victim who had been dropped off at the emergency room. The suspect left before officers arrived.
The victim, 24-year-old Brianna Burton of Centreville, VA, was pronounced dead a short time later.
During the investigation, detectives determined that the shooting occurred in Prince George’s County. The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation on April 28, 2025.
On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, PGPD arrested 32-year-old Rogerio Palma of College Park. He is charged with first and second-degree murder and related offenses in connection with Burton’s death.
