Summary of Events: Veirs Mill Road Fatal Collision – Mocofeed

The following is a brief summary of events regarding a fatal collision that occurred on Monday, June 8, 2026, near the intersection of Veirs Mill Road and Gail Street in Silver Spring.

At approximately 2:09 a.m., 4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for the report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, responders located a 39-year-old male pedestrian in the roadway of Veirs Mill Rd., who was pronounced dead on scene. The striking vehicle remained on scene.

Preliminary information indicated the pedestrian may have been operating a scooter; however, investigators have determined the pedestrian was not on a scooter at the time of collision. 
 
The Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating this fatality. A news release will be issued when more information becomes available, including the name of the decedent, following proper notification of next of kin.
