On Thursday, July 2, 2026, at approximately 6 a.m., officers from the Montgomery County Police Search Management Team, members of the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service Swift Water Rescue Team, and personnel from neighboring jurisdictions responded to the area following reports of a missing 16-year-old male who had been swimming in the Potomac River.
On Friday, July 3, 2026, at approximately 9:30 a.m., members of the Montgomery County Police Search Management Team and the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service Swift Water Rescue Team located the 16-year-old male in the river. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
