The following is a brief summary of events regarding a fatal hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian that occurred in the 10500 block of Colesville Road.
At approximately 1:14 p.m., officers from the 3rd District responded to the 10500 block of Colesville Road for the report of a pedestrian struck. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female pedestrian suffering from life-threatening injuries. The female victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe a black SUV with tinted windows may have been involved in the collision. The vehicle is believed to have damage to the right front bumper and fender and was last seen at approximately 1:17 p.m., driving on Colesville Road towards New Hampshire Avenue.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is investigating this fatal collision and is asking anyone with information to call the Montgomery County Police Non-Emergency (301)279-8000 (24-hour line).
A news release will be issued when more information becomes available, including the name of the decedent, following proper notification of next of kin.
