Gaithersburg, MD – The following is a brief summary of events regarding a fatal pedestrian collision.
At approximately 8:25 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, Rockville City Police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the area of Chapman Avenue and Twinbrook Parkway for the report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult female pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. The woman was transported to an area hospital, where she later died. Her son, a child who was also struck, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
MCPD’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating this collision.
