Rockville, MD- The State’s Attorney’s Office’s 4th annual Speak Up, Save a Life Student Video Contest opens for entries on Monday, September 28, 2026. The contest challenges students to create an original video to promote awareness of the risks of drug misuse and the dangers of fentanyl and other synthetic compounds. The contest was created in partnership with Montgomery County Public Schools, the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, Montgomery Goes Purple, MCC-PTA, and The Magnolia Companies.

All 6th through 12th graders living in or attending school in Montgomery County are eligible to participate. MCPS students can earn 10 SSL hours for submitting a video.
Thanks to our generous sponsors, the Magnolia Companies and The Good Samaritan Fund, the prize structure is as follows:
- First Place: $5,000
- Second Place: $3,000
- Third Place: $1,000
- Fan Favorite: $1,000 (voted on by MCPS students)
- Multiple Honorable Mention winners will also be awarded cash prizes
The contest closes at 11:59 p.m. on November 30, 2026. Winners will be announced at the Save a Student Summit on December 19, 2026, at Walter Johnson High School.
