Silver Spring Man Arrested on Firearms Charges

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, January 22, 2025

Gaithersburg, MD — The Montgomery County Department of Police, in collaboration with the Prince George’s County Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), has arrested 32-year-old Kofi Aidoo of Silver Spring on firearms-related charges, including prohibited possession of a firearm.

On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, MCPD officers, joined by officers from Prince George’s County Police and the ATF, staged near the Glenmont United Methodist Church in the 12900 block of Georgia Ave before serving a residential search warrant related to this case. Aidoo is accused of stealing a handgun from a gun range in Prince George’s County.

During the execution of the search warrant, officers recovered a firearm and took Aidoo into custody without incident.

MCPD has received inquiries about the presence of law enforcement in the area. The activity was strictly related to this criminal investigation and had no connection to immigration status or enforcement.

El miércoles 22 de enero del 2025, oficiales de MCPD, junto con oficiales de PGPD y ATF, se reunieron cerca de la Iglesia Metodista Unida de Glenmont en la cuadra 12900 de la Georgia Avenue antes de ejecutar una orden de allanamiento residencial relacionada con este caso. Aidoo está acusado de robar una pistola de un campo de tiro al blanco en el condado de Prince George.

Durante la ejecución de la orden de allanamiento, los oficiales recuperaron un arma de fuego y pusieron a Aidoo bajo custodia sin ningún inconveniente.
