Rockville Seeks Input on Future of Community Gardens
October 1, 2026
Rockville is seeking input on the future of community gardening as the city studies opportunities to expand community gardening.Â
A new survey asks about interest in gardening, preferred locations and size of gardens participants would like to see. No gardening experience is needed to take part.Â
The study follows an assessment of Rockville’s five existing community gardens. Two, at Wootton’s Mill Park and the Rockville Senior Center, are operated by the city. Three others, at King Farm Farmstead, King Farm Watkins Pond and Fallsgrove Park, are on city property and operated by community boards.Â
The survey will help the city gauge demand more broadly, identify where interest is strongest and ask about potential features and gardening preferences.Â
Staff will use the survey results along with information from existing gardens and potential sites to develop recommendations. Findings and a recommendation are scheduled to be presented to the Mayor and Council at a work session in December.Â
The survey is open through midnight Sunday, Nov. 22 at surveymonkey.com/r/rockvillecommunitygarden.Â
