Rockville Man Killed in Pedestrian Collision

Gaithersburg, MD –
At approximately 9 p.m., Montgomery County Police 1st District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue responded to the area of northbound Shady Grove Road at Blackwell Road for a report of a pedestrian collision.
The pedestrian, identified as Paul Jerome Marangos, was transported to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The initial investigation by the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) revealed that the driver of a 2020 white Genesis G70 was traveling northbound on Shady Grove Road and continued through the intersection at Blackwell Road when the vehicle struck Marangos, who was crossing from the median. The driver remained at the scene.

This is an active and ongoing investigation. CRU detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has additional information to call 240-773-6620.
