Rockville Begins Development of First Green Space Management Plan
November 1, 2026

From wooded trails and open meadows to park gardens and tree-lined streets, Rockville’s green spaces are part of what makes the city special.
The city is taking a closer look at these spaces and considering what’s needed for the future. Rockville is developing its first Green Space Management Plan, a long-term strategy to care for and improve the city’s public green spaces. The plan will consider parks, forests and trees, wildlife habitat, native plants, invasive species, climate resilience and more.
Community feedback, along with field data collection and mapping, will help guide the plan’s development. Residents will have the opportunity to share their experiences and priorities through a community survey and interactive map.
The survey will ask what residents value about Rockville’s green spaces and what the city should prioritize. The map will allow participants to drop pins that identify valued places and areas that need attention. No expertise in nature or land management is needed to take part.
Take the survey, explore the map and stay engaged on the Green Space Management Plan engagement page.
