Gaithersburg, MD – A 67-year-old man has died from injuries he sustained after being struck by a vehicle in Gaithersburg.
The victim has been identified as 67-year-old Tesfaye Fugago Liranso of Gaithersburg.
At approximately 2:34 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, Gaithersburg City Police officers were dispatched to West Deer Park Road near Hermosa Place for the report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers located Liranso suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, where he died on Saturday, August 8.
The preliminary investigation determined that the driver of a 2018 Toyota RAV4 was traveling westbound on West Deer Park Road when Liranso entered the westbound travel lane and was struck by the RAV4.
Investigators believe Liranso may have been experiencing a medical emergency when he entered the roadway.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Because the collision resulted in a fatality, the Montgomery County Department of Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has assumed the investigation.
