For Immediate Release: Wednesday, October 9, 2024

Gaithersburg, MD – The Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in Gaithersburg, where a 30-year-old Germantown woman was struck and killed.

On Monday, October 7, 2024, at approximately 9:18 p.m., the driver of a black 2019 Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Great Seneca Highway, approaching Kentlands Boulevard when the car struck Dinora Aleman Amaya, who was crossing Great Seneca Highway from Kentlands Boulevard toward Orchard Ridge Road. The driver of the Honda remained at the location.

Gaithersburg City Police, Montgomery County Police and Fire Rescue were dispatched to the intersection. Amaya was pronounced dead at the scene.

CRU detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information related to the incident to contact CRU at (240) 773-6620.
