Friedson will highlight priorities for the year ahead and discuss expanding property tax relief for older residents and zoning measures to assist small businesses
Rockville, Md., Dec. 8, 2022 — On Monday, Dec. 11 at 11:30 a.m., newly elected Montgomery County Council President Andrew Friedson will hold a media availability to highlight his priorities for the coming year, including increasing housing affordability, boosting economic development, expanding high-quality early care and education programs, and implementing initiatives to help the County’s older adults thrive.
Friedson will also preview upcoming Council issues including legislative measures that he will introduce on Tuesday. The first is legislation to expand an essential senior property tax credit that will enable more residents to age in place, while implementing a progressive income scale for eligibility. Additionally, he will discuss two proposed zoning changes aimed at making it easier for small businesses to operate by expanding conditional uses.
The Council president’s media availability will be held on Zoom and is for members of the news media. The public can watch the media availability live on the Council’s Facebook page ( @MontgomeryCountyMdCouncil ) or view the recording on YouTube ( @MoCoCouncilMD ).
