New Glenmont Express Shuttle Available July 6 – Sept 6 During Partial Red Line Shutdown – Mocofeed

Posted on July 7, 2026

In light of the Metro Red Line closures that started this week on Monday, July 6 and will end on Sunday, Sept.6, the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is offering the Ride On Glenmont Express Shuttle, connecting Upcounty riders to the Red Line Metro stations on the east arm of the Red Line.

The Glenmont Express Shuttle will provide direct service between Milestone Park-and-Ride, Shady Grove Metro station, and Glenmont Metro station.

The Shuttle will operate every 40 minutes on Monday – Friday from 6-9 a.m. and 3-7 p.m.

What You Need to Know

The Red Line closure will allow Metro to complete improvement projects, including the construction of a new mezzanine at the Bethesda station to connect Metro Rail with the Purple Line Light Rail.  Metro will also perform necessary state-of-good-repair maintenance at the Medical Center and Grosvenor-Strathmore stations to prevent additional future shutdowns. Riders can find more project details and updates on the Metro Summer 2026 Construction web page.

We encourage customers to review their travel options during the Metro Red Line closures and allow extra travel time.

Metro will also be running free shuttle buses between the North Bethesda station and Friendship Heights station. Some of the shuttle buses will offer express service between the two stations, and local service will run along 355.

Thank you for choosing Ride On. MCDOT appreciates your patience as these important transit improvements move forward, and remains committed to ensuring you reach your destination safely and efficiently.
