The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is celebrating Pride Month with its fourth annual “Ride with Pride” Ride On bus. The decorated bus will circulate around Ride On bus routes throughout the month of June in recognition of Pride Month.

The wrapped bus features the tagline “Radiating Love,” with bright colors radiating from a central point. The bus is also adorned with Ride with Pride messaging and neon lights to stand out at night. The bus is dedicated to uplifting LGBTQ+ voices, culture, and civil rights.

In addition to the Pride Bus, all MCDOT buses have #RidewithPride interior ads on board, with a QR code that will direct riders to a MCDOT #RidewithPride web page with information about the historical and cultural significance of Pride Month.

“The Ride with Pride bus has become an annual tradition that affirms the rights, and celebrates the value, of our County’s LGBTQ+ community,” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. “Montgomery County is home to one of the most diverse populations in the nation, and we want all of our residents to feel safe, welcome, and heard. Pride Month is also a time to acknowledge the history of discrimination and violence against the LGBTQ+ community, especially in our Black and Brown communities. We recognize the legacy of the Stonewall Riots, which took place 57 years ago, and the Black and Brown trans community who led the fight for the rights of all LGBTQ+ people. The Pride Bus sends the message that everyone who lives in our County will be treated with respect and dignity.”

The Pride Bus will be deployed on bus routes throughout the County. Riders are encouraged to post photos of the bus to social media with the hashtag #RideWithPride.

“The Pride Bus is our way to show support and inclusivity for LGBTQ+ residents and MCDOT employees,” said MCDOT Director Chris Conklin. “Public transportation plays a vital role in uplifting marginalized groups, and we hope this bus will be seen and celebrated across our County.”
