Montgomery County to Host Nadim Khan Memorial Homeless Resource Day on Thursday, Nov. 6 – Mocofeed

Posted on September 25, 2025

For Immediate Release: Thursday, September 25, 2025

Annual Event Connects Residents Experiencing Homelessness with Vital Services and Support; Volunteers and Sponsors Are Needed to Help Make the Event Successful

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) will host the annual Nadim Khan Memorial Homeless Resource Day on Thursday, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m.–3 p.m., at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park, located at 506 South Frederick Ave. in Gaithersburg. The event is a one-day, one-stop opportunity for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, or those at risk of becoming homeless, to access a broad array of critical services in a single location.

“Homeless Resource Day is a powerful example of how Montgomery County brings government and community partners together to serve people with compassion and respect,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “We are committed to building a community where everyone has the opportunity to live with dignity and stability, and this event is one of the many ways we help to ensure that our most vulnerable residents have access to the essential resources they need to thrive.”

Available services and resources will include:

  • Health screenings and health education
  • Employment information and assistance
  • Financial counseling
  • Free legal advice
  • Housing assistance
  • Medication and prescription assistance
  • Shelter resources
  • Veteran benefits
  • Social services
  • MVA ID assistance
  • Free haircuts and manicures

Free lunches will be provided for guests, volunteers, and staff. To support this initiative, DHHS is seeking event sponsorships and volunteers. With an anticipated attendance of 1,000 participants, the Department aims to raise $7,500 to cover the discounted lunch cost from Subway restaurant. Volunteers are also needed to assist with set-up, registration, navigation, and hospitality. Community support played a key role in the success of last year’s event, and continued partnership is critical to meeting the needs of residents this year.

Language access services, including bilingual staff and sign language interpreters, will be available to support attendees. Participants are encouraged to bring personal identification and any relevant documents needed to obtain services, such as birth certificates, Social Security cards, and W-2 forms.

The event is named in honor of the late Nadim Khan, a former chief of Special Needs Housing (now Services to End and Prevent Homelessness) at DHHS. Khan was a dedicated public servant and tireless advocate for ending homelessness in Montgomery County. His legacy continues to inspire efforts to connect residents with the support and services they need.
