Montgomery County Seeks Qualified Individuals to Review and Evaluate Applications for Various Competitive Grants Programs

The Montgomery County Office of Grants Management ( OGM ) is seeking qualified individuals with relevant experience to review and evaluate applications submitted to the County’s various competitive grants programs for Fiscal Years 2024 and 2025. Reviewers will undergo mandatory training, assess programs on a rolling basis throughout the year and will be compensated for their time.
The role of grant reviewers is to analyze grant applications against specific criteria and provide clear, written feedback to applicants. Prospective reviewers should visit the OGM website to learn about the County’s various grant programs and topic areas that they cover.
To be considered as a grant reviewer, apply through the OGM grants portal . An online information session will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14. The live event can be joined, or a recording of the event can be accessed, via this link .
Time commitments will vary based on grant program requirements and the volume of applications. Reviewers will be allotted one to two weeks for review of assigned applications, with each application taking approximately 15-45 minutes to review. All reviews must be completed within the online OGM grants portal.
Reviewers will receive compensation ranging from $15 to $30 per reviewed application, based on the specific requirements of each grant program and the length of each grant application submission.
Grant reviewers should possess expertise and/or experience in one or more of the following areas within the context of Montgomery County:
- Subject Matter Expertise
A minimum of five years of proven technical experience and/or expertise acquired through professional, volunteer or academic engagement in one or more technical areas or a specific field(s).
- Project Management or Administration
A minimum of five years of experience developing and managing projects, grants, budgets and/or organizations, as well as reviewing grant applications. - Cultural Competence for a Particular Underserved Community and/or Racial Equity and Social Justice Experience
Intimate familiarity with community needs, current initiatives and effective approaches aimed at addressing those needs at the local level.
Individuals selected as grant viewers must demonstrate:
- Intermediate proficiency in written and verbal English.
- Integrity and the ability to score applications based on set criteria.
- Confidential and ethical handling of proprietary information.
- Identification and reporting of conflicts of interest.
